MNsure, the state’s insurance exchange, while improving, still is largely ignoring the needs of small businesses. Small Business Minnesota was instrumental in changing the related bill to address some small business needs. While changes were made to the bill, they have not been implemented.
Tell House and Senate health committee members to
1) Appoint a qualified, knowledgeable small-business advocate to the MNsure board, as was the spirit and intent of the law.
2) Implement active purchaser which may be the only way to lower insurance costs for small business owners, who once in MNsure should gain access to large-group rates.
4) Ensure there is outreach to small business owners to build awareness of MNsure options.
